I came into holistic health practices with a background in higher education teaching feminist cultural studies, electronic media studies, gender studies, linguistics and writing. Like many holistic health practitioners, I tripped into the wellness scene through a healing crisis that changed the direction of my life’s work. Combining holistic bodywork with critical thinking and reflective talking was a natural evolution for me. You can read my publications on somatic-emotional therapy and mindbody integration in Semiotica, Somatics, and The Handbook of Body Psychotherapy and Somatic Psychology. I am the author of Becoming-Woman and co-director of the film Memories of a Forgotten War.
Coming soon: Fast Therapy: 10 Days to Cleanse Your Body, Clear Your Mind and Heal Your Heart.
I believe it’s natural and emotionally intelligent to harmonize empathetic listening touch with heartfelt conversation in therapy and education. The touch-talk approach is faster than talk alone when we reach out to help those in need.
